10 on 10 | May | Light Inspired blog circle

I have seen so many inspiring photos taken by other photographers lately, one of the reasons I love being part of Light Inspired's blog circles.
{Kids were here} is a project, a different way to document the children in your life, without them actually being in the photo.  Snapshots of the little details that my two children were here ...leaving their trace, making a mess, putting their stamp on the here and now.  I just walked around the house one day snapping away evidence of my kids, not a single frame with them in it.  All too soon my little girl will no longer line up her rubber duckies- it's already starting as she is preferring to take showers.  My son will have his legos stashed away.  I've held on to decor in his room from when it was first decorated as his nursery..now mixing it with current favorites.

fun pregnancy announcement!

How fun is this for announcing to the world you are having a baby?!!

My friend had such great ideas for her session!  These two were so fun to photograph.

Cannot wait to see what they are having! My guess is a boy...because the pink balloon popped leaving the blue =)

signs of spring

Springtime has finally arrived here in Georgia.  I am so done with cold weather and jackets.  Unfortunately that means the crazy pollen counts in the 1000s as well.  But I am enjoying our spring break this week and look forward to spending time with my family coming in town.

Avery had the idea to blow the petals she had knocked off our cherry tree.  I think she was picturing a image that I had shown her once of a girl blowing glitter (still want to try that)

 Japanese maple...

The monthly themed blog circle has ended, but I have joined Light Inspired's 10 on 10 blog circle...10 images on the 10th of the month!

be lucky

I am lucky that I have a camera. I am lucky I can capture today so tomorrow, when today seems so far away,,,I can bring it all right back.

For sure I was lucky that my two babies let me take photos of them this day.  I think playing the Beatles on the record player helped a little...or maybe a bribe too.

& how lucky to have experienced records, then cassettes, CDs (finally my own player in HS!), & now all our music right at our fingertips.

Continue on this blog circle & visit Dee here to see how lucky she is!  She also has another blog- living a clean life with some great recipes.

be loved

I just love Valentine's Day.  Even with all the commerical hype, I love every part of it.  I especially love that I get to go out with my husband.  My mom always made a big deal about it when my brother & I were growing up.  Along with our stash of candy and trinkets, she would write sweet notes and draw little hearts in her handwriting.  My dad still continues to give my two kiddos gifts..this year he gave her the BIGGEST stuffed bear my daughter had ever seen.  This year for them...I set out a Valentine's breakfast.

Since my daughter has started school, I have taken photos for her Valentine cards,,, no longer for my son though.  Avery has much more fun with it than her brother ever did!  I love that she doesn't mind being in front of the camera (well most of the time!)

Our fluffy Ziggy always gives us love.

Julie Paisley Photography Workshop\\

I was lucky to attend Julie Paisley's workshop in South Carolina this past September.   She led a fabulous two day workshop and I also had the opportunity to shoot two family photo sessions.  Here are my favorites..
oh how she had us laughing with her imaginative play

I was amazed by the venue {we did both sessions here} and all the variety it had to offer.

such a sweet family aren't they?

Not only did I get to meet sweet Julie...but I also met an awesome group of photographers.  Glad to be on this journey with a great group of girls-I just wish we all lived closer.  I look forward to getting together with them again in the future.

be a dreamer

The new year brings a fresh start and many promises...and promises that you wish to keep.  So this year I did not make resolutions, but just things I really, really want to happen.  I find myself saying I wish I had more time to {fill in the blank with a myriad of wishes} There is never enough time, so I will try to make do with the here and now.
One thing I wished I had done more last year was having more family dinners together, all four at the kitchen table.  And as I had looked through photos of our family, I wished I had been in some of them on the other side of the camera and also capturing my husband as well.  Failing at a 52 week project in 2012, I decided to try a 365 this year.  Makes complete sense doesn't it? Sure.  BUT I am using my iphone, so just shoot & then upload on my instagram.  Done.

So 2013 is almost a month in,
and this year has been really, really good so far.

a self portrait, one thing I hardly ever take...but new year, right?

one big happy family!

I was honored to photograph this very special time for this family.  Three cousins were born within a few months of each other... for three siblings!  That makes 5 grandchldren...5 great grandchildren!  I think that makes for a great Thanksgiving!

This one makes me smile!

be merry

This sure is the perfect time to be filled with merry....or as Avery says joy and love.  Time when we are off school & work, able to slow down & spend more time with family...and notice that I have a lot to be merry about.  I am looking forward to 2013...

This is my baby, with two of my bears from my childhood which she renamed Snowflake & Chocolate. {which is good because I cannot recall their names at all}  I adore her & with her sweet self she makes me very merry.

As I went past her room the other night, I had to grab my camera to capture her sweetness as she slept.
Now continue to be merry and click here to visit Samantha at sabel moments photography.  Then, keep on clickin' in the blog circle with girl hearts camera/light inspired.
